ANNAPURNA Upwas Thali Peeth is a ready flour for making thalipeeth on fasting days, from Jagdamba SHG in Ahilyanagar district. Upwas thalipeeth flour is made from fasting ingredients rather than the wheat, rice, millets and dals in everyday thalipeeth flour. What counts as fasting food differs from family to family, so read the ingredient list on the pack and check it against your own practice before serving it during a fast.
How to use
Many households add mashed boiled potato or soaked sabudana, green chilli, jeera and sendha namak (rock salt) to the flour, then add a little water to make a soft dough. Pat it into rounds on a greased tawa, add a few drops of ghee or groundnut oil, and cook covered on medium heat until crisp on both sides. Serve with dahi.
Storage
Keep the flour in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place and use it within a few weeks of opening.
