Wood-pressed flaxseed oil (jawas tel) in a 100 g pack, made by SARASWATI Mahila SHG in Bhandara district.
What to use it for
Jawas oil is a raw-use oil, not a cooking oil. Drizzle a little over jawas chutney, dal-rice, bhakri or a koshimbir just before serving. Heating it spoils the flavour, so don't use it for tadka or frying.
What to expect
Wood-pressed (lakdi ghana) oil is filtered rather than refined, so slight cloudiness or sediment is normal. Flaxseed oil has a distinctive nutty, slightly grassy taste.
Pack size
This oil is sold by weight. Oil is lighter than water, so 100 g is roughly 110 ml.
Storage
Flaxseed oil turns stale faster than most oils. Keep it in the fridge once opened and use it within a few weeks — which is why a small pack like this one makes sense.
