Dink ladu is built on dink — edible gum, the dried tree resin that is fried in ghee until it puffs up light and crunchy. That puffed gum is the backbone of the ladu. This 200 g pack is handmade by Siddhivinayak Self Help Group in Satara district under the MS MASALE name, with natural ingredients and no artificial essence, as stated on the listing.
In most Maharashtrian homes dink ladu is a cold-weather sweet, and it is traditionally what a family sends to a new mother — that is a custom, not a claim about what it does. It is rich and heavy, so a small piece goes a long way.
Before you buy: check the pack for the full ingredient list if anyone in the house avoids nuts. Keep the box closed and away from moisture and heat.
Also available in a 500 g pack. For how dink ladu compares with methi, besan, nachani and moha ladu — and how to compare prices per kilo — see our ladu guide.
