This ladu contains mushroom. That is rare in a sweet, and many households do not eat mushroom — please keep it in mind before adding this to a gift box or serving it to guests.

Mahua (moha) is the dried flower of the Madhuca longifolia tree from Maharashtra's forest districts, with a floral, faintly fermented taste. Nachani — also called nagali or ragi — gives the ladu its dark colour and earthy base.
